Download files in my Amazon Kindle?

I have an Amazon Kindle, and I know how it works, but I am not clear on how to upload files. I want to be able to upload Word documents in it. Is it possible to do this? Do I pay? Can to avoid paying? I looked at Amazon's Kindle, my guide and so please do not direct me to these sites. Thank you!

It there is a way you do not have to pay a fee, and free. Just convert the Word document format Kindle reader and then copied to the Kindle via cable USB. See the "Kindle" Recognizes the page for more details: http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http 3A% 2F%%%% 2Fwww.amazon.com 2Fgp 2Fcustomer 2Fhelp%%% %%%%% Files 3DUTF8 3Fie 2Fdisplay.html 26nodeId 26ref_ 3Dhp%% 3D200375630 & tag = 5Ftrans 5Fk2land em-20 and linkCode = UR2 and the camp = 1789 creative = 390957 & Hope Help:)
