Questions Kindle, remove the books ?!?!?

I just finished a book on my Kindle READIN I have the latest model, and I wanted to remove it from the Kindle. To do this, I went to my home screen, use the 5-way controller to highlight then placed in the driver left five years, and a small button that says "remove custom products and clicked down to remove it. that should have happened to my files, but did not. Have I inadvertently deleted, or is a problem with my Kindle. How do I find the book? Is there a support number to call to / Amazon? thank you!
